Apple Unit Study | Fall Theme

If you’re planning an APPLE THEME UNIT STUDY FOR PRIMARY GRADES, then you might be searching all over pinterest and TpT for the best apple activities. This year, I decided to quit the searching part and put on my creative mind gear to create an apples theme unit best suited for my first graders! And boy oh boy, did they enjoy it! From our Apple Picking Field Trip to the hands-on-activities to the writing worksheets, everything turned out to be a great learning experience for the students. Doing an apples theme unit in the primary grades was the best choice I ever made!

First of all, we started off by reading lots of books about apples for our APPLE THEME UNIT. We read both fiction and non-fiction books to expose the children to different styles of writing while learning about apples. A few good ones were Apples by Gail Gibbons, From Shoot to Apple by Robin Nelson, and Apples For All by Qi Zhi. These books are perfect to complement apples theme unit for primary grades. I tried to keep a mix of fiction and non-fiction books to expose the students to as my text types as possible.

Then, we headed off for Apple Picking to a local apple orchard and the kiddos learned how to pick an apple the correct way by turning the eye of the apple to the sky. They learned how bees are using to pollinate the apple blossoms and how an apple tree takes 5-8 years to grow until it can start growing apples.
